A fear for humanity!? We are in the midst of a generation where our insults, whether they are intended for comic purposes or not, seem to matter more than common courtesy and good manners.
Unfortunately, a certain age is reached in each individuals life in which however hard they try, parents, carers or friends cannot control or influence them to behave and show appreciation to others….. however much some people may really need to be!
Yes, this rant comes from a frustrated place, but no, it is not rooted in an isolated major incident. On a day to day basis many people seem to forget that they are not the only person on the planet!
What appears to be a common fault among many people today, (more commonly young people) could be the impact of a society largely rooted in competition and autonomy. The continuing economic struggle that has hit the many parts of the globe in the last decade or so may be a lead to the drastic change in the attitude of a new struggling workforce. As competition for jobs is high, it seems our manners, selflessness and common courtesy for others is at an all time low.
It is completely simple. Perfection is expected of no one, yet a simple smile, opening of door, returning of a favor or pouring a tea for someone feeling unwell is really not a lot to ask.
To take this whole rant back to basics…In the words of the Bible: ‘Do to others as you would have them do to you’….. Or at least have some manners, Please!
